Creating job opportunities for students in the blockchain sector
NYC Node is openly sharing how to create a blockchain node, making this knowledge available to businesses in New York City as a public good. This allows companies to figure out how to set up the node on their own. But if they prefer not to do it themselves, they can work with or hire CUNY students who helped build the node. This partnership helps companies integrate this technology into their business, creating real job opportunities for the students – a main goal of this project.
NYC Node is the foundation for collaboration between the public sector (CUNY) and private businesses building with blockchains. As businesses use this service, it opens doors for students to get jobs in these companies, especially in areas that use the system. Also, by lowering the cost of compliance through a clearer understanding of what it means to be compliant, more businesses will build blockchain applications, which in turn will create more job opportunities for New Yorkers.
NYC Node will arm the next generation of CUNY students and New York’s workforce with the relevant skills and applied experience to contribute to the future of finance in the city. NYC Node will expand the capabilities of companies, with operations in NYC, to integrate and monetize public blockchains. NYC Node will run on a semesterly basis moving forward, welcoming students from all schools in the CUNY network to participate.
